The Spartan Way
Hello, I am a Spartan, and I will tell you about my city. My city is a war city. We have rivals like Athens. Athens is the capital of Greece, and we are backwards to them. We do Olympics here as in every city. We make the best soldiers out of someone. We do actual attacks against neighborly cities. We learn to be obedient by a lot of punches to the kids. That teaches the kids a lesson! We have porridge for a regular meal. We are brave and barren, but women get more rights here than in other cities. It's the place to be!

Ancient Greece
The ancient Greeks' ways and ideas are very interesting. In ancient days, they thought a bull called the Minotaur made earthquakes. They thought up gods like Zeus as one of their important gods up on Mount Olympus. He is the king of all their gods and he is important because the Greeks thought he made thunderstorms. They are excellent sailors and have been since ancient days.

Greeks' Religion
Greece is a religious place. It's full of statues and temples. They worship lots of gods all over! They worship the gods like Zeus, Hera, Apollo, Ares, Athena, Poseidon, Hermes, Persephone, Dionysus, Hades, Hephaestus, Artemis, Hestia, Demeter, and Aphrodite. The Greeks were dependent on their religion because they care about what the gods are doing. The gods can give them good wealth or give them a bad year.

Ancient Greece
Ancient Greece is amazing to learn about. Ancient Greece loved war. One of the most war-like rulers was "Alexander the Great." He took over places like Egypt, Perisa,Turkey, Iran, and Pakistan. Alexander seemed unstoppable, but Alexander did not die of old age or battle; he died by a fever. The Greeks lived through many periods of time like the Dark Ages, the Mycenaean period, and the Classical period. There were a lot of cities the Greeks had such as Macedonia, Sparta, and Athens.Their main enemy was Persia. The Greeks had plenty of ideas which started lots of ideas for the modern days.

Ancient Egypt
Egypt was a great civilization. Ancient Egyptians built gigantic statues. They made plenty of humongous burial places for pharaohs called "pyramids." But there are many facts most people don't know about the life in ancient Egypt.
You should know that there were different rules about how to behave in ancient Egypt than today. Parents gave their babies fried mice to teethe on. There were rules for eating in ancient Egypt such as, "Don't stare at your food."
Most of Egypt was desert. This is where hidden tombs were. Next to the Nile River, where they harvested in spring, the land was black. They called that place the "black land." They grew barley and wheat as well as vegetables like beans, onions, and lettuce and fruits like figs, grapes and dates. The ancient Egyptians were able to make a civilization to remember.

Gladys and the Mandarin
Gladys Aylward and the Mandarin have many differences. They both are kind, but they do have differences. They both have a lot of similarities.
There are many things that are that are the same. They both loved China. They tried to defend China. They both accepted Christ. They helped feed 100 children. They both were buried in China.
There are many differences also. The Mandarin was a ruler and Gladys was not. Gladys was a missionary and helped 100 children across the mountian to Sian. She was a "Storyteller"and the Mandarin was not. Gladys stopped a riot in the prison and later became a grandmother.
I think they both helped in God's plan. The Mandarin gave the children food for their journey. Gladys helped the children get across the rocky and rough mountains. This story was from These Are My People. And I think that you can help China, too, with God's help.

History of Japan
Japan is an amazing place. Japan didn't start out with anyone that told them what to do. Instead they started out killing each other for more property. They like baseball and Judo.
One time there was a battle at Mongolia and Japan. What happened was a King named Kublai Khan wanted Japan to give him money, but Japan refused so Kublai Khan sent his fleet to Japan, but many sank and the remaining ones had to turn back. Although Kublai Khan didn't give up. He sent them again, but this time Japan killed them. This time Kublai Khan sent 200,000 men in 4,000 ships, but he made two big errors. First, he used rowboats because he didn't care were he got them. Seconed, he used Chinese shipbulders as slave labors. You should know that Japan knows that that their coming back, and they did. And many rowboats sank and the rest turned back. The Japanese thought their gods won the battle for them. They had not a clue that they were using rowboats.
The end.

George Westinghouse
When he was a boy, George Westinghouse wanted to go to war. He got whipped for not going to school. He had nasty teachers. His mom knew he was smart.
As an adult,he went to war (US Cavalry). He had a Christmas at home. Later, he invented the air brake which stops a train by compressed air. George Westinghouse made a lot of other inventions, too. He's remembered the most for the air brake.
